A kind invitation
Yesterday we went to see Durnamuck garden, past Badcaul and Badluchrach on the Ullapool road. Bought as a croft, it looks out toward over Little Loch Broom to An Teallach.
It’s idyllic.
Sheep, curly horned, sturdy black lambs gambolling toward us with a lamby hello, proud white cockerels and myriad chickens, whose kind I need to learn about so i can thank them for their eggs with a when laid date.
It’s not just the sheer bounty of the advanced vegetable raised beds that make me wonder how many vegetables can you eat or the poly tunnels with apples trees, asparagus, the list extensive but will stop at - festooned with strawberries and all manner of fruit. It is rather that the house and gardens were built from scratch, by the owners Will and Sue just 12 years ago whilst raising their family.
They are both incredible, creative gardeners and having licence to do so, sourced, by hand, seeds from all over the world.
Amongst them all, in a rill of irises, goddess of rainbows, was the iridescent Pre-Raphaelite blue of the Himalayan poppy, a great love of mine.
